TITLE: Bittern amongst reeds
INFO: "Back to the south window again now, as the south Bittern was showing well again, in amongst the reeds just to the right of the front of the hide. I was just about able to get an angle on it from the opening south window (courtesy of another photographer letting me in for a few shots, thanks Colin) as it looked back over its shoulder giving a nice pose for this shot where, fortunately, its head and beak are just clear of obstructing foreground reeds. The awkward angle out of the window had me switching on the lens VR (Vibration Reduction) system as I was not able to rest the lens on the window sill." February 2012 (Ivy North Hide) TECH: Nikon D700, Nikkor 200-400mm f4 zoom lens at 400mm with 1.4x teleconverter, ISO 1400, f8, 1/250 sec. Lens hand-held, VR on. Cropped image about 60% of frame (from full-frame FX-format image). |
