TITLE: Bittern amongst reeds at edge of reedbed, with reflection
INFO: "The same day as the previous image and the Bittern followed its usual routine of sneaking back across the north channel to what seem to be its favoured fishing area and, indeed, just before this image it had caught a good-sized fish (Perch), fortunately nearer the front edge of the reedbed so it was a liitle more vsisble than usual. I always hoped that it would show right at the front of these reeds as the pool of water there is often very calm and give lovely reflections in the afternoon sunshine. However, this was as clear as I got and with something of a reflection in the still water, though it is still frustratingly distant and I've had to crop in quite a bit for this web display image." February 2011 (Ivy North Hide) TECH: Nikon D700, Nikkor 200-400mm f4 zoom lens at 400mm with 1.4x teleconverter, ISO 640, f8, 1/1500 sec. Lens rested on hide window shelf. Cropped image about 20% of frame. |
