TITLE:  Bittern on alert wading/swimming

INFO: As previous image, a few frames later, as the Bittern wades/swims quickly across the more open water in a very alert state, to avoid a confrontation with the other Bittern behind it in the reeds.

Increasingly awkward shooting angle out of the south window by now and dropping light levels but just about enough shutter speed to arrest the movement of the bird, using lens VR (Vibration Reduction) to counteract my shaky hand-holding of the heavy lens.

I've digitally retouched out a few intrusive twigs here and there to give a clearer view of the bird and its reflection."

March 2012 (Ivy North Hide)

TECH: Nikon D700, Nikkor 200-400mm f4 zoom lens at 400mm, ISO 1600, f4, 1/350 sec.
Lens rested on hide window sill. VR on.

Cropped image about 60% of frame (from vertical full frame FX-format image).
