TITLE: Bittern on alert in reeds
INFO: "Same bird as previous image. It came out of the water into some thin reeds, looking back nervously for any sign of the other Bittern. It's nervousness was justified, as the other bird had not given up on the chase and crashed noisily through the reedbed to this one and eventually forced it to fly away. The various reed stems in front of the bird are not such a problem in this image as the head/eye is clear and actually quite nicely framed by the criss-cross of stems." March 2012 (Ivy North Hide) TECH: Nikon D700, Nikkor 200-400mm f4 zoom lens at 400mm, ISO 1600, f4, 1/350 sec. Lens hand-held. VR on. Cropped image about 25% of frame (from full-frame FX-format image). |
